David Giles is the new commercial director at Glanbia cheese.
Giles, who takes up the role with immediate effect, joins from meat supplier Tulip where he worked for two years and was responsible for business management of the Tesco account.
Prior to Tulip, Giles spent several years in a number of commercial roles at Milk Link.
In his new role, he would be responsible for the development and implementation of Glanbia Cheese’s overall sales, marketing and business development strategy for the sale of cheese and whey products, the company said.
Glanbia Cheese is a joint venture between Glanbia and Leprino Foods. It accounts for a third of UK cheese exports and produces mozzarella, of which it is the leading producer in Europe. Its cheese is used by major pizza restaurants, as well as frozen and chilled pizza manufacturers.
Giles will report to Glanbia Cheese CEO Paul Vernon, who said: “David brings extensive experience of both the retail and dairy sectors.”
Glanbia Cheese unveiled a £7m-plus investment in its Llangefni Welsh factory in February this year.
