David Lepley (002)

Asda has announced former Morrisons group retail director David Lepley is to take up its new executive team role of chief supply chain officer, as Allan Leighton continues his management shake-up.

Lepley’s departure from Morrisons was announced in February, after eight years at the retailer.

Prior to joining Morrisons he spent 11 years at Asda, where he began stacking shelves at its Grantham store before rising to the position of VP online operations.

Lepley’s arrival continues the leadership changes Asda announced last week by Leighton, as he doubles down on his mission to “satisfy the daily and weekly shopping needs of ordinary working people and their families who demand value.”

Elsewhere, Liz Evans took up the post of chief commercial officer, non-food & retail on a permanent basis, alongside her continued leadership of George.

The supermarket also revealed it was bolstering the food team under chief commercial officer for food Kris Comerford, with former Accolade Wines boss Ade McKeon rejoining Asda as vice president for ambient.

Yesterday The Grocer revealed Asda is to launch the supermarket’s biggest Rollback price cut campaign for years next week, as its returned former CEO seeks to spark a comeback for the struggling retailer.

Leighton said: “Delivering the outstanding value and legendary service our customers demand begins with making sure they can get the products they want every time they shop with us.

“David has considerable experience in grocery logistics and supply chain, and I am delighted he is coming home to Asda to lead this key area for the business.”
