Specialist health and beauty products wholesaler DCS Europe is to create 50 jobs when it moves its manufacturing arm to a new factory three times bigger than its existing plant.
DCS Manufacturing is due to have closed its site in Wolverhampton and moved to a 60,000 sq ft site in Stratford-upon-Avon by the beginning of February.
The manufacturing business was expanding to cope with growing demand, said Denys Shortt, founder of DCS Europe.
DCS Manufacturing was expected to record sales of £2.5m in the year ending December 2009 compared with £1.5m for 2008, he said. "There will always be strong demand for 'Made in England' products, because Britain represents professionalism and quality," said Shortt. "The UK supermarket chains have also become very supportive as they try to reduce their carbon footprint and focus on UK job creation instead of going to China for everything.
"It's great that we've got some good news in contrast with the current doom and gloom."
Shortt set up his own manufacturing plant 18 months ago when he became frustrated by the lack of suitable suppliers.
DCS Manufacturing has grown quickly and now manufactures a wide range of private-label and branded health and beauty lines.
The company planned to gain BRC accreditation within the next 12 months, which would help it secure contracts, Shortt said.
DCS Europe has also performed well. Shortt predicted its turnover would top £100m in the year ending December 2008, up from £83m in 2007. The company's beauty brand Enliven was now worth £5m a year in retail sales, he added.
DCS Europe exports to 55 countries and exports had increased as the value of sterling had fallen, Shortt said.
"Exports are booming - in the past three months our exports have increased by 60% to £600,000 a month - this is double what it was a year ago," he said. "We are becoming known as one of the UK's number one exporters."
