DEFRA has unveiled a new, streamlined management board. The structure is divided into three streams: environmental protection, food, farming and fisheries, and rural affairs. There are also three professional streams: science, veterinary advice and legal affairs.
Andy Lebrecht, formerly director for the EU and international policy at MAFF, joins as director general for food, farming and fisheries. He reports to permanent secretary and board chairman Brian Bender.
Anna Walker will join from the DTI as director general for land use and rural affairs. Mark Addison becomes director general for operations and service delivery.
