The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs has joined forces with the Carbon Trust to measure the carbon footprint of products.
Defra and the Carbon Trust will work with BSI British Standards to develop an agreed method for measuring embodied greenhouse gas emissions which can then be applied across a wide range of products, services and supply chains.
The move follows the launch of a carbon footprint label by the Carbon Trust in March this year. The label is currently being trialled by Walkers, Innocent and Boots.
