Deliveroo has revealed a 144% rise in lunchtime orders.
Consumers were increasingly ordering lunch to their home and office rather than waiting for the traditional Friday or Saturday night takeout, it said.
The data was released by Deliveroo as it reached its 10,000th restaurant partnership in the UK with Cottonopolis, in the northern Quarter of Manchester, which will be offering Asian inspired food.
Deliveroo also recently opened its own kitchens to help restaurants extend its takeaway businesses worldwide.
The majority of the restaurants available on Deliveroo - including Cottonopolis, and 23 of the top 25 most popular restaurants on the platform - work exclusively with the food delivery service. These include chains such as Five Guys, Jamie’s Pizzeria and Pho.
“It’s great to welcome our 10,000th restaurant to Deliveroo and we look forward to helping yet another independent British business to grow and expand our winning formula of delivering the very best food from the very best restaurants at the very best price,” said Dan Warne, UK & Ireland managing director at Deliveroo.
“It’s why more and more restaurants are joining us exclusively and more and more customers are ordering their lunch with us.”
Stephen Wall, co-founder of Pho, said: “Consumer dining behaviours have changed dramatically in the UK over the last few years, and working with Deliveroo has helped us to - quite literally - deliver the food our customers want to eat, in the comfort of their own home or office.”
