Diageo is giving its Guinness Original sub-brand a retro-inspired design overhaul.
Rolling out during May, the redesigned bottles (rsp: £2.19/500ml) and cans (rsp: £5.09/4x440ml) are influenced by historic labels in the Guinness archives – as were the recently released Guinness Dublin Porter and Guinness West Indies Porter.
“For more than 256 years, we have been brewing quality beers that are loved all over the world, yet it was Guinness Original that really put us on the map, helping us develop into the iconic brand that we are today,” said Nicola Parry, marketing manager for Guinness Western Europe.
“By reminding people of the rich history of Guinness Original, we aim to bring new consumers into the category and reignite this amazing beer.”
Guinness Original sales were down 5.1% last year, to £21.6m [Nielsen 52 w/e 11 October 2014].
