Diageo has stumped up £2m to upgrade its Guinness packaging factory in Belfast.
The use of more automated machinery is intended to improve efficiency at the Belfast plant, which also packages Diageo’s Harp and Smithwicks beers.
A canning shrink-wrapping facility will increase the range of pack types produced at the factory, according to The Belfast Telegraph,
The upgrade would meet demand from consumers and retailers for new packaging formats, said Paul Armstrong, operations director of Diageo’s European beer supply division.
“This investment puts Diageo at the forefront of packaging mix capability, allowing us to supply our customers with the widest variety of packs,” he said.
