Little girls are about to get a role-model with attitude in Pixar’s latest movie - and a range of toys to match.
Brave, which opens in August, tells the story of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong princess, who is forced to discover the meaning of true bravery to undo a curse and save her family and kingdom.
Licensed toys based on the movie - Pixar’s first fairy tale - will launch early next month, following the release of a range of toys exclusive to the Disney Store last week.
Among the Disney Store line-up are a Merida Toddler Doll (rsp: £20), Merida archery set (rsp: £12.50), soft toys and costumes.
The licensed range includes the Brave Merida Fashion Play Doll (rsp: £19.99) and the Brave Doll and Horse (rsp: £29.99), made by Mattel. The company is also producing a small collectible Merida doll (rsp: £5.99) available in two different costumes from the film.
Other licensed products include dress-up costumes from Rubies, plush toys from Posh Paws and role-play items from Jakks Pacific. Disney will also be launching T-shirts, sleepwear, accessories, bedding and books.
Brave is released on 3 August in Scotland and Ireland, and nationwide from 17 August. It features the voices of Kelly Macdonald as the princess, Billy Connolly as her father King Fergus, Emma Thompson as Queen Elinor and Robbie Coltrane as Lord Dingwall.
Disney Pixar brand Cars is one of the most successful properties in the toy market.
