Rosé Wine

Distell has recalled a number of its wines sold in UK supermarkets over fears they may contain very small fragments of glass.

The wines affected are Nederburg 56 Hundred Pinot Grigio, listed in Tesco and Morrisons; Danger Point Shiraz Rose, Cabernet Merlot, and Colombard Chardonnay, listed in Morrisons; and Secret Cellar Hundred Pinot Grigio, listed in Waitrose.

The glass fragments were detected during quality assurance tests carried out by Distell’s agent in Japan. The supplier said no consumer complaints had been received, and that expert medical opinion had confirmed ingesting the particles would be harmless.

“Product quality and customer safety are integral to all we do at Distell and even though we are assured there is minimal risk to consumers, we are recalling and replacing the specific batches of bottled wines,” said Distell MD Richard Rushton.

Distell’s portfolio includes more than 40 wine brands, as well as a number of aperitifs, brandies, whiskies and other spirits.
