Ian Dobbie has replaced Jacques Gallichet as managing director of UK bakery and café chain Delifrance.
Dobbie, 37, joins from Allied Bakeries where he was director of sales for the convenience trading division.
His career to date has been concentrated on the retail side of bakery, and he said he plans to bring that discipline to bear on Delifrance.
He started out at RHM where he worked with the division that contained Mr Kipling before moving to national account management.
He then went to Northern Foods where he worked in sales in the bakery and meat divisions.
As UK sales director for baking he launched US brand Entenmanns onto the market.
Dobbie said he had joined Delifrance to help it attain its "tremendous potential for growth".
