Baking ingredients supplier British Bakels has appointed Ian Dobbie as managing director.
He will join the business at the start of October as MD designate, before taking over the full position on 1 January 2009.
Dobbie joins the company from frozen bakery producer Délifrance UK, where he has been MD for seven years.
A graduate chemist, Dobbie joined the industry in 1985 as a food technician with Manor Bakeries before moving to technical sales supporting Tesco and M&S. He then held positions with Northern Foods as commercial manager, responsible for Marks & Spencer; and at Entenmann’s Bakeries as sales director, during which time he launched their cake brand in the UK. This was followed by a spell at Allied Bakeries’ convenience trading sector, again as sales director.
“Ian has experience across the board in technical, commercial, operations and general management roles in the industry,” said Paul Morrow, Bakels’ current managing director. “He also has a successful track record of growing a manufacturing business serving bakery, supermarket and food service customers. He is ideally equipped to lead British Bakels in the next stage of our development.”
Morrow will become chairman of British Bakels at the start of January, a new management role within the global business.
“I am very much looking forward to leading British Bakels and to building on the excellent work of Paul and his team,” said Dobbie.
