Greek dairy brand Dodoni is venturing into on-the-go snacking with a quartet of baked cheese thins.
It has rolled out four flavours of Dodoni Cheese Thins: Feta, Tomato & Oregano; Feta, Jalapeno & Chilli; Halloumi Multi Seed; and Halloumi Caramelised Onion. Each contains at least 60% Greek Feta or Cypriot Halloumi.
The quartet is entirely gluten-free, vegetarian and claimed to contain 100% natural ingredients.
The range will roll out in single-serve packs designed for picnics, as well as sharing bags the brand said were suited to family get-togethers over drinks (rsp: £1-£2.75/22g-80g).
Dodoni said it wanted to target shoppers “looking for a more indulgent treat with refined flavours from the Med”.
Dodoni CEO Tom Seepers said that each SKU had been “baked to heavenly perfection”.
“Our vision is for a snack-happy world where we savour and share together. That’s why the delicious details matter”, he added.
The launch follows Greek and Mediterranean food supplier Odysea’s recent move to target picnic and snacking occasions with two new feta SKUs: its Creamy Feta & Greek Yoghurt Spread and Greek Feta Cubes.
It comes after Kantar data for The Grocer’s World Foods category report revealed that sales of Greek foods had tumbled in the wider world foods category last year.
There had been a 21.6% drop in volume sales, with close to a £4m fall in value sales, taking the category to a value of £18,0m [52 w/e 6 September 2020].
