Malaysian supplier Dollee is bringing what it claims are some of Malaysia’s most popular snack products to the UK.
The range – launching this week in Wing Yip and Chaunglee stores nationwide - includes Seaweed Twists (rsp: £2.85/130g), Crispy Prawn Rolls (rsp: £2.98/210g), Kuih Kapit (rsp: £2.65/110g) and Pineapple Tarts (rsp: £2.98/210g).
The products will be available from Asia Market stores in Dublin and Belfast, with Scottish retail being handled by Matthews Foods. Seaweed Twists will be sold only by Wing Yip.
“It’s great to be able to launch some of our most popular snacks in the UK, not only for those who are already fans but also to introduce them to a new British customer,” said Ching Tan, marketing manager at Dollee, adding the range was designed to bring Malaysian staple foods to Britain in a simple and easy-to-prepare format.
Malaysian food continued to grow in popularity in the UK, said Khairul Nizam Moonier, trade commissioner for the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation. “This launch adds to the existing range of fantastic, authentic ingredients and products from Malaysia already available,” he added.
