Don Simon is taking on Innocent with a new range of Disney-branded smoothies for kids.
A Cars 2 tropical smoothie and a Disney Princess strawberry and raspberry smoothie launches next week in Asda and is due to roll out to other retailers next year.
The chilled smoothies come in packs of three (rsp: £1.58/200ml) and contain one of your five-a-day. The brand's owners are already working on other smoothie flavours and are exploring larger formats. Marketing manager Richard Cawood said the launch would further boost the brand, which has seen its chilled juice sales rocket 143% in value over the past year to £12.5m [Kantar Worldpanel 52w/e 10 July].
Don Simon's Spanish parent company José García Carrión began its UK operation in 2003, supplying own-label juices. It launched the Don Simon brand here in 2006.
