Brakes has named Bill Driscoll as its group chief executive, replacing Ian Player, who is due to retire next month. Driscoll was previously vice-president
and general manager of GE Silicone, a global manufacturer of silicone products with annual sales of more than $1.3bn.
Player will remain at Brakes as a non-executive board director. Brakes chairman Jim Rogers said: “In Bill I believe we have the perfect individual able to build on the great work achieved under Ian’s leadership. He has a passion for customers, for employees and for delivering strong financial performance.”
His appointment follows the departure of managing director Nigel Terry earlier this year.
