Dunnet Bay Distillers is taking its trendy Rock Rose brand into sloe gin with a limited edition tipple.
Rock Rose’s sloe gin (29% abv) uses the brand’s ‘Autumn Edition’ spirit as a base, which is steeped for 11 months with elderberries, blueberries and sloe berries picked locally to its Highlands distillery.
It is then sweetened with muscovado sugar, which Dunnet Bay said resulted in “a thick, dark sloe gin which is jammy and tart, yet smooth and rich” and was “perfect for enjoying around the first frosts of autumn and into the depths of winter”.
It rolls into specialist retailer Gordon & MacPhail and Dunnet Bay’s web store this week (rsp: £25/500ml).
The drink had “been in the distillery pipeline for quite some time”, said the brand’s co-founder Martin Murray. “Our limited editions have become real collectibles and we’re confident this rich and fruity sloe gin will prove just as popular with customers.”
The brand landed its first national listing in Sainsbury’s for its core 41.5% abv gin earlier this year, following a £300k investment into its distillery which saw it add a second still for capacity and open a new tasting room and visitor centre.
