Full-year sales have increased 16.4% at East End Foods following the opening of its Aston Cross cash & carry in Birmingham.
Turnover for the year to 30 April was £146.6m, although pre-tax profits fell 11.3% to £4.7m after its import business was affected by rising commodity costs and exchange rates.
The company opened its third cash & carry on the site of a 120,000sq ft former HP Sauce factory, following a £10.5m investment last November. The depot has a greater focus on catering than its other sites and boasts 200 fish and chip shop lines.
Its West Midlands market share has increased thanks to the depot’s proximity to the M6.
