Echo Falls is moving into gin.
The Accolade Wines brand, which in 2017 made its first foray into spirits with Echo Falls Vodka, has unveiled Summer Berries Gin (37.5% abv).
The drink is billed as having ”a predominantly strawberry-led aroma and a tasting note complemented by juniper, the key botanical in gin”. It rolls out from late May into Tesco, Bargain Booze and convenience stores (rsp: £16/70cl).
The brand was “always looking for a way to bring new news to the drinks market and research shows that the Echo Falls consumer is eager to try out novel and exciting products”, said Accolade marketing director David White.
“With the gin market growing at pace, it was a natural choice for us to develop a new product which combines the Echo Falls hugely popular signature flavour, summer berries, whilst simultaneously responding to the overwhelming popularity of gin in the UK.”
Echo Falls first dipped its toes into the gin market earlier this year with the launch of a rosé wine and gin fusion. And it isn’t the only wine brand looking to cash in on the gin boom.
Chapel Down recently launched its Bacchus Gin (which it makes with discarded grapes from its vineyard) into G&T cans, while Echo Falls’ biggest competitor, Blossom Hill, has launched a new ‘botanical-infused’ Gin Fizz.
Last week tonic giant Fever-Tree announced its first move into making alcoholic drinks with the launch of its own range of bottled gin & tonic RTDs.
