An open funding call has been launched with the aim to accelerate positive change in the food industry.
EIT Food will support food projects bringing innovative technology solutions to the market in response to specific challenges in the agrifood sector.
The ‘Open Innovation Call’ is open to all eligible European organisations, including current members of the EIT Food partnership, as well as external bodies in the agrifood space, such as industry, SMEs, universities and start-ups.
Proposed innovative solutions are expected to result in commercially viable products and services by the end of 2024, working towards achieving: healthier lives through food, a net zero food system and a fully transparent, fair and resilient food system.
EIT Food innovation director Paola Giavedoni said the organisation would support “bold new innovations that promise to transform the way we address agrifood challenges”.
“Whether through new products, technology or business practices, we want to hear from organisations with ideas that will help us secure a fairer, more transparent and resilient food system for all.”
The latest invitation follows five years of innovation funding calls from EIT Food, which is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union.
EIT Food will accept proposals during two submission windows: the first closes on 14 October 2022 and the second deadline will be on 13 April 2023.
