Carlsberg UK plans to reintroduce its Carlsberg Elephant premium bottled beer to the UK thanks to consumer demand.
The rich lager, which was first brewed in 1959, will be available in selected retail outlets from this month. It joins the company's growing beer portfolio, which includes Carlsberg Export, Holsten Pils and recently-launched Birra Poretti. The beer, which the company says has a complex flavour profile, will have a retail price of £5 to £6 for a four-pack.
Marketing director Darran Britton said: "Our customer helpline has received numerous calls and emails from people who have fallen in love with Elephant beer overseas and want to buy it in the UK. The speciality beer market is growing and we are very pleased to offer UK consumers such a popular beer."
Its unusual name stems from the iconic elephant symbol of the brewery and a landmark in Carlsberg's birthplace of Copenhagen.
