Energy drink brand Carabao has made its UK television debut, introducing the character Clive the Carabao.
Narrated by actor and voiceover artist Jason Nwoga, the animated ad begins with the brand’s founding by Thai rock star Aed Carabao. It then points to the variety of people it aims to serve, including commuters, working mothers and students.
The 30-second clip demonstrated Carabao’s “commitment to serving a wider mass market audience than any other energy drink” said the brand, which is named after a type of water buffalo.
The ad, which hit the small screen yesterday (1 August) during Coronation Street on ITV, will air throughout this month across ITV, Sky and Channel 4.
With the strapline ‘The Bonkers Drink For Bonkers Lives’, it ends with ‘Mr Carabao’s £1m Giveaway’, the shopper competition that kicked off in July across Carabao packs.
“Giving away £1m is a pretty crazy thing to do,” said the brand’s UK chief marketing officer, John Luck. “But Carabao is a drink for people leading increasingly busy and bonkers lives, so it feels entirely appropriate.”
