Scottish convenience store chain Eros Retail has acquired a Nisa Local store in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire that has been operated by R&I Neish for almost 70 years.
Neish Supermarket on Clerkhill Road changed hands this week. The store will gradually transition from Nisa Local to Eros’ Greens fascia.
Eros said it will extend the store opening hours and enhance its in-store offering, including new hot and cold beverages such as Costa Express, Skwishee Frozenated Drinks and F’real milkshakes.
The in-store butchery will also be expanded to prepare and produce fresh and local meat on site. It will continue to stock Co-op food products through the Nisa supply chain.
“We are honoured to be acquiring a store with such a strong legacy and hope to preserve the high standard of loyalty the community has experienced since 1954,” said Eros Retail director Harris Aslam.
“We look forward to working closely with the store team, customers and local suppliers to bring new and exciting products and offerings to the store.”
Eros Retail commercial manager Louise Moreland added: “We look forward to focusing on retaining and growing local offerings such as JG Ross and Bert Fowlie whilst also introducing fancy pieces from the likes of Gladstone Bakery which are manufactured less than a mile from the store.
“We are particularly thrilled to be expanding the butchery in the weeks after takeover which will now be overseen by our master butcher from Greens of Ellon, Barry Bartlet, who will bring quality, freshness and deliver a wider variety of produce to the store.”
The opening takes the number of stores in the Eros estate to seven. It plans to open two more stores this year with the next being a conversion of a Co-op store in Kinrross due to open on 24 September..
