Nuts and dried fruits supplier Whitworths is expected to be sold to private equity firm European Capital for £85m.
Reports suggest that European Capital has beaten off bids from private equity groups Barclays Private Equity, HG Capital and Lion Capital, and is now in exclusive talks for the company.
Whitworths was acquired by Gresham Private Equity in 2001 as part of a management buy-out.
