Former Asda boss Archie Norman has been blocked from becoming the chairman of Britain’s biggest pub chain, Mitchells & Butlers.
It was understood that Norman was the favourite for the job but shareholder Joe Lewis – who owns around 23% of the group’s stock – opposed the move, according to The Sunday Times.
Earlier this month Norman was confirmed as the new chairman of broadcaster ITV, taking over the role from Michael Grade.
