Another senior defection to Iceland has added to the brain drain from Asda's top management team.
Brian Gaunt, who was Asda's European supply chain director, has joined Iceland as group logistics director, reporting to chief executive Bill Grimsey.
The move was revealed just a week after Asda's group trading director Mike Coupe was appointed managing director of Iceland Foods (The Grocer, July 7, p5).
Grimsey said: "We are delighted that Brian is joining Iceland to ensure that our supply chain is fully integrated to efficiently support each of our routes to market.
"This appointment completes a very strong and experienced senior team which has been carefully put together since January to recover the business and develop its potential.
"Brian worked very closely with Mike Coupe at Asda and we look forward to both Mike and Brian having a long and successful career at Iceland."
An Asda spokeswoman said that they wished Gaunt well, adding that they had "plenty of other home grown talent."
