Tesco is extending its Fairtrade nut offer.
It claims more than 13,000 farmers in Malawi, Mozambique and India will benefit from the decision to launch a 200g Fairtrade peanut and raisin mix and Fairtrade natural cashews in 150g packs.
The move has been underpinned by good sales of Fair trade Brazil nuts, which Tesco launched in March. The product has already taken a 25% share of Brazil nut sales. Tesco buyer Kevin Patel said further Fairtrade nut lines were likely.
The Fairtrade message will be reinforced with a picture of a grower, together with a message about the poverty many of them face, on packs.
