Haribo is extending its range of pre-packed gums and jellies by throwing its number one countline, Giant Strawbs, into a family-size bag.
The strawberry-shaped jelly sweets, which contain real strawberry juice, have been downsized and rebranded as Haribo Strawbs. They will initially be available to independent retailers from next week with a rsp of 99p for a 200g bag.
Rory Goodwin, sales director at Haribo Dunhills (Pontefract), said: “We are very upbeat about the sales prospects for Strawbs because Giant Strawbs have proved so popular. We sell over 2.5 million pieces of Giant Strawbs every week and we are confident we can repeat that level of success with Strawbs.”
Haribo hopes the newcomers will replicate the success of its Starmix pre-packed bag, which generates annual sales of more than £24m.
