Senior vice president and chairman of the board of directors of Carlsberg UK, Lars Fellman, has taken over from Colin Povey as chief executive officer of Carlsberg UK.
Carlsberg said that since Povey became CEO in 2001, he had made an important contribution in leading the business during a period of structural changes and growth.
It claimed Povey had stepped down, by mutual agreement, because he did not have the international experience to take the company forward.
Carlsberg said it was planning to increase its standing as an international group and tap
into international members’ experience. Fellman has been with Carlsberg for 11 years in a variety of management positions and retains his responsibilities for the businesses in Switzerland, Italy and Portugal.
Fellman was a senior project manager and a member of the acquisitions department that bought Polish brewery Ockockim in the mid 90s.
He then became MD of Carlsberg’s Falcon Breweries in Sweden and then as head of acquisitions brought in Carlsberg’s Swiss operation, Feldschlösschen. Before Carlsberg, he worked in management consultancy positions in Finland and Norway.
Fellman’s primary focus in his new role will be to strengthen the operational performance of Carlsberg UK as well as the position of the Carlsberg brand.
