Ferrero has launched a raft of NPD across its chocolate portfolio for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter 2017.
Coconut & almond brand Raffaello will get new Raffaello Hearts for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day, available in 40g and 140g formats (rsp: £2.09 and £5.24), while Easter NPD for Thorntons includes Thorntons Collection Eggs in Nuts & Praline, Fruit, Toffee, Fudge & Caramel and Mint variants (rsp: £6).
Ferrero’s Kinder Surprise for kids will partner with two licences for the spring season. My Little Pony and Transformers large eggs will be available in 100g individual boxes for gifting (rsp: £5.49).
The brand is also bringing back Kinder Joy after sales of £5.3m last year (rsp: 99p), as well as Thorntons character and dessert eggs (rsp: £3-£12), and Grand Ferrero Rocher, which features a large chocolate shell with Ferrero Rocher inside (rsp: £5.24/125g and £8.99/240g).
“Chocolate remains hugely popular during the spring season, with many shoppers buying for all ages to gift and share,” said Levi Boorer, customer development director at Ferrero. “When it comes to choosing what to buy, shoppers have begun to look at how special and unique the products are and to show the thought that has gone into each purchase.”
A combined £5m marketing investment will include the previously reported £4.9m Thorntons push and an £850,000 media spend on Raffaello.
