Soup has found its way into UK freezer cabinets with the launch of an eight-strong range from Findus.
The frozen food specialist is backing its new Soup a' Meals with a £4.5m marketing campaign during the next 12 months, including new television commercials.
Rolling out now, the products gain inspiration from a range of international cuisine and are intended to be complete light meals. Targeted at convenience, they come in their own bowls which can be heated straight from the freezer or microwaved in seven minutes.
Advertising is expected to focus on the recipes' low calorie and high vitamin and mineral content  echoing the healthy eating themes of Findus' Feeling Great! ready meals range. Vegetable flavours dominate the range, with only Chicken Mulligatawny and Spicy Thai varieties containing meat.
The other flavours are Tomato and Feta Cheese, Broccoli, Spanish Vegetable, Spicy Parsnip, Carrot and Coriander, and Italian Tomato. All retail at £1.99.
