Marine Harvest and Stolt Seafoods, Scotland’s largest fish farming companies, have agreed to merge.
The merger, which will create the newly-named company Marine Harvest, will lead to the loss of 120 jobs at the companies.
Approximately 50 positions will be lost at Stolt’s processing factory in Scalpay, with a further 70 from combined operations.
Marine Harvest said that the merger would allow the Scottish fishing industry to compete with Norwegian fisheries.
