Asda is set to roll out gurnard fillets to over 100 stores following a trial of the fish in the wake of Hugh’s Fish Fight.
Gurnard - a firm-fleshed fish with a mild flavour - is little used by UK consumers, but supermarkets have recently started to stock it as interest in under-utilised species has grown.
Asda had been trialling fillets at 50p each in a small number of stores, a spokeswoman said.
Fillets, sourced from the South West, will go into 103 stores from 12 March.
