A number of senior managers are leaving Sainsbury.
Head of food and health, Gill Fine, is moving to take up the directorship of the Food Standards Agency’s new department, consumer choice and dietary health.
FSA said the establishment of the department reflected the growing importance of its diet and nutrition work and fitted its strategic plan designed for the next five years.
Fine joined Sainsbury in 1995 as company nutritionist and moved to her present position in 2002 to develop dietary initiatives for customers.
Before Sainsbury, she was the
British Nutrition Foundation's education and external relations director. Fine has a BSc in home economics from Bath College and an MSc in nutrition from Queen Elizabeth College, London. She has also played an active role in public health nutrition for many years and is currently a member of the government’s Scientific Advisory Committee on nutrition.
Sainsbury is also seeking a communication director to replace Jan Shawe, who has decided to take time out. She will leave the company after three years in November.
Customer marketing director Andrew Ground has been appointed marketing director at Homeserve. Finn Cottle, head of fresh product, is moving to Somerfield and food trading director Ian Merton has signalled his intention to leave.
