The managing director of key bagged salad supplier Florette UK, Gerald Lacey, died last week after a short illness.
Lacey was widely known and respected throughout the industry. He was instrumental in the start-up of Florette’s UK factory at Fradley in 1998, becoming MD in 1999.
A background in supplying to the construction industry provided his expertise in managing tight logistics.
Lacey was proud of introducing the UK’s first enforceable green transport policy with deliveries made outside rush hours and with staff transported to and from the factory by company buses.
