Wine importer Thierry's has added New Zealand brand Flying Kiwi to its portfolio.
The brand was developed especially for the UK and US markets, according to producer Graeme Thompson. It includes a Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay from the Marlborough region - the largest wine region of New Zealand - and a Canterbury Pinot Noir. The whites will both retail at £7.99, while the red has a price tag of £8.99, which is in line with the higher price points commanded by New Zealand wines in the UK.
UK consumers pay an average of £5.97 a bottle for New Zealand wine compared to the overall retail average of £3.79 [ACNielsen].
