The success of the England football team so far in Euro 2004 has boosted sales in many pubs, clubs, bars and supermarkets.

Sainsbury said pre-match sales of pizza have risen by 20% and Tesco has reported an increase in sales of convenience foods.

According to reports the TNS market research company said weekly sales of beer doubled in the run-up to the tournament and are set to remain high as long as England stay in.

Reports also note that according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research the football tournament is set to bolster the economy in the short-term.
