Meadow Foods has appointed ex-Nestlé MD Jon Walsh as its group commercial director.
Walsh succeeds Mark Chantler at the dairy supplier, who relinquished the role to focus on his duties as CEO following a board restructuring announced in January.
The appointment forms part of Meadow Foods’ plan to expand through NPD, mergers and acquisitions with the backing of US private equity firm Paine & Partners, which acquired a stake in the business last year.
Walsh now takes the lead in overseeing the growth strategy’s implementation with a brief to develop marketing policies in line with its objectives.
He took up the position at the dairy last month following five years with Thai Union Group, which owns the John West brand.
“I’m excited to be joining the team at this stage in the company’s development and look forward to helping them achieve their targeted growth plans,” said Walsh.
Chantler described the company’s future as “exciting”, as it looks to grow products, capabilities and capacity while extending its range and reach into new areas.
“We’re delighted to welcome Jon as we look to further develop our commercial offering and increase awareness of the products we offer,” he added.
Meadow Foods is one of the UK’s largest independently owned dairy groups, specialising in supply to the manufacturing and foodservice industries. It employs more than 275 staff to handle in excess of 650 million litres of milk annually.
