Asda has announced the appointment of Gavin Chappell as its vice president of food and GM supply.
It marks a return to the supermarket for Chappell, who previously spent six years with the business across numerous roles including vice president for e-commerce and supply chain.
He will rejoin in April having most recently served as chief operations officer at Bensons For Beds.
Asda said Chappell, who left for the Dunelm Group in 2015, would be responsible for Asda’s food & general merchandising supply teams.
He will report to David Lepley, who also recently returned to the Asda business to take up the newly created chief supply chain officer role, having been group retail director at Morrisons.
Asda said the latest appointment was another sign of its intent to restore the Asda DNA through the business.
Lepley said: “We know that the key to delivering legendary service and great value is ensuring customers can get the products they want each and every time they shop at Asda.
“Gavin’s knowledge of the business and considerable experience in logistics and supply chain functions will ensure we can continue meeting the needs of hardworking families.”
