Fortnum & Mason is “joining the on-demand delivery movement”, listing 33 SKUs for delivery “in minutes” on quick convenience app Zapp.
A “carefully curated” range of products, including the retailer’s signature loose-leaf teas, biscuits and hampers, are now available for Zapp customers across London, 24 hours a day.
“We are always looking for new ways to bring our products to customers in a way that complements their busy lifestyles,” said Liz Darran, chief brand and creative officer at Fortnum & Mason. “Partnering with leading tech brand Zapp ensures our customers can enjoy their favourite Fortnum’s treats whenever they wish, delivered in minutes, 24/7.”
Fortnum & Mason was the first of London’s high-end stores to partner with an on demand delivery service, it claimed.
The retailer’s products will be searchable in the Zapp app and website search bar and also available for customers to browse in the Fortnum & Mason section within the Zapp Boutique, a premium and luxury-focused ‘store within a store’ on the Zapp app, featuring brands such as LVMH, Antinori, Apple, Dr Barbara Sturm, Bamford and Belvedere.
Zapp launched in late 2020 with a single dark store – or ‘Zappstore’ – in west London, and now operates several micro-fulfilment centres across the capital. It was one of a wave of rapid grocery players launching in the UK at the time, and has since survived swingeing consolidation of the market, which saw rivals Getir, Weezy, Jiffy, Gorillas and Fancy all acquired or shuttered.
In 2023, it undertook a major rebrand to concentrate its focus on affluent, central London customers.
By partnering with Zapp, Fortnum & Mason “hope to meet the changing needs of modern consumers, offering a seamless way for customers to enjoy its premium products at home, whenever they choose” Zapp said.
“We’re delighted to welcome Fortnum & Mason to Zapp, offering our customers instant access to some of the most sought-after luxury products on the market,” said Rowan Lawson, director at Zapp. “Our partnership combines the best of Zapp’s on demand 24/7 delivery with Fortnum’s heritage and quality, reflecting a shift in how premium brands now reach consumers.”
