Australian wine supplier Foster's EMEA - producer of Wolf Blass and Lindemans - is to target the c-store sector because it believes it has been "neglected".
Previously the company has focused on servicing supermarkets.
But Foster's said it was being forced into changing its strategy in a bid to chase growth in a stagnating UK wine market.
Plans include aiming more premium brands at the sector and developing relationships with key wholesalers and symbol groups.
Foster's managing director Peter Jackson said: "Ironically, impulse has over-traded in wine even though the industry has neglected it. Given the number of gift and party purchases that go through the sector there is a huge potential to gain value."
Foster's has already experimented in the sector with its premium Wolf Blass brand, which resulted in "stupendous growth".
