Christmas pud brand Fox’s has declared 14 December Christmas Jumper Day - trouble is Save the Children has done the same.
Preparations were well under way for the business to raise funds for charity Age UK with its festive push - fronted by I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here winner Stacey Solomon - when it found out Save the Children was running its own fundraiser on the same day and under the same name.
Rather than let its jumper plans unravel, Fox’s has decided to push on.”Great minds think alike,” said Tony Lappin, marketing & category manager at Fox’s pud producer Matthew Walker. “We hope both campaigns raise a great deal for the relevant charities, at a time of year that’s all about giving.”
Fox’s is encouraging consumers to wear their cheesiest Christmas jumpers on 14 December and donate £1 to Age UK through a Just Giving page. The activity is also designed to raise awareness of Fox’s Christmas puddings, which have secured a 27% share of the branded Christmas pud market [Nielsen 16 w/e 25 December 2011] since launching last year. The company said its puds were lighter than a traditional pudding, making them appealing to families.
“We’re delighted Stacey is fronting our festive marketing campaign this year. Thanks to her time on I’m a Celebrity and The X Factor, she has a broad family appeal,” said Lappin.
Save the Children said it had been “delighted” with the number of people that had signed up to its own campaign.
