Snact

A snack firm that repurposes otherwise discarded fruit into air-dried crisps is seeking cash from the crowd to win new supermarket listings.

Spare Fruit works with UK farms to purchase fruit not deemed to have made the grade for retail before slicing and air-drying the fruit to create low-calorie snacks.

The brand has won listings in Selfridges and Planet Organic as well as independent cafés and health stores and is seeking a cash investment to grow distribution into larger retailers.

It is seeking £300k for 21.65% of its equity via the Seedrs crowdfunding platform, valuing the firm at just under £1.1m.

The campaign, launched this week, has already raised almost £190k largely due to a £175k investment already secured from a consortium of “ethical investors”.

Spare Fruit is targeting entry into “high-end” supermarkets, increasing its exposure to foodservice and growing exports to markets with a demand for British sustainable products.

It said it had already held advanced discussions with some of the largest food retailers and foodservice companies in the UK.
