Fun ways to use stone fruit will be the theme of this summer’s promotional campaign run by Sunshine Fruits From France.
The marketing body, which represents France’s summer fruit growers, said it would reach more than 25 million consumers with a £60,000 campaign designed to inspire creative use of stone fruits.
Tesco and Waitrose are backing the drive with tastings of apricots, which are becoming a key product as many French growers switch to them instead of peaches and nectarines.
Daniel Obadia, president of
the French growers’ apricot committee, said that volumes would be larger than usual this year as a result.
However, he admitted the season was starting a fortnight later for cherries. There were good quantities of Guyot pears, which would be marketed from July 15, followed by Williams in early August.
