Irish fruit importer Fyffes has appointed has expanded its marketing operations team with the appointment of Áine McElroy as marketing executive.
McElroy will be responsible for the coordination of marketing in Ireland of bananas and pineapples.
Before joining Fyffes, she was brand & marketing manager for oral care brand Beverly Hills Formula, having previously worked as a sponsorship & exhibition executive at event organiser Conference Partners International.
Earlier in her career, McElroy, a graduate of Technological University Dublin, held positions at online charity 1Hour, Hotel Chocolat, ‘behaviour change agency’ Real Nation, and wholesaler McCaughey Foods.
“The experience and skills Áine brings to our operation will really enhance our marketing team,” said Emma Hunt-Duffy, Fyffes head of marketing.
McElroy’s appointment coincided “with a period of investment for the company in Ireland, manifested in the recent development and opening of a new €25m banana ripening centre opened in Balbriggan” Hunt-Duffy added.
Last month, Fyffes marked International Women’s Day with a €30k (£25k) donation to charities that support female victims of violence, including Women’s Aid across Ireland, England and Scotland.
In July 2021, the fruit giant pledged to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25% by 2025 as part of a wealth of commitments in its first-ever sustainability report.
