Functional drinks brand G Spot, founded by actor Gillian Anderson, has appointed a new executive team to spearhead its expansion in UK supermarkets and overseas.
Chrysi Philalithes has joined G Ology, Anderson’s company that houses her various business interests including G Spot, as acting CEO, while Akta Raja has taken the role of executive chairwoman.
The move follows G Spot making its UK supermarket debut last month as three of its SKUs launched in Sainsbury’s.
The brand also secured investment from Heineken in November last year, as revealed by The Grocer, and expanded into the US.
Philalithes steps into the position vacated by former CEO Rebekah Hall, who resigned in December.
G Spot said Philalithes brought a “wealth of experience in building creative brands and businesses, and in scaling and selling startups”.
She has held C-level marketing and digital roles at companies founded by Bono, Ryan Reynolds and billionaire businesswoman Laurene Powell Jobs.
Most recently, Philalithes was on the investment team of Reynolds’ film production company Maximum Effort, working across entertainment, sport consumer and marketing. She was also the first chief digital officer of Bono’s AIDS awareness brand, Red.
Raja, a qualified solicitor, is an investor and social entrepreneur in the startup and venture capital space. She was previously an investment banker working on public and private M&A and public capital raisings.
G Spot added she had founded and led value-driven businesses to successful exits. She also sits on the board of charity BLP, which helps young people in London on the path to entrepreneurship.
“Chrysi and I are thrilled to join Gillian to lead G Ology and G Spot in this next exciting phase,” Raja said.
“We’re building the brand and expanding distribution to make sure everyone gets a taste of what G Spot is all about – bold, refreshing, and unapologetically good for you, with a little bit of cheekiness thrown in.”
Anderson launched G Spot in 2023 in a bid to help her cut back on high-sugar, caffeinated drinks. The range of adaptogen and nootropic-infused drinks are sold in its DTC online shop and at a limited range of retailers such as WH Smith, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason, as well as on the Netflix Shop.
