Galipette Cidre is launching a new rosé cider into Waitrose.
The 4% abv drink had “notes of fresh berries and aromas of blackcurrant leaf”, the brand said.
It was made with pommes à chair rouge, “rare red-flesh apples” from Brittany and Normandy, which gave it its “authentic rosé character, taste and deep amber colour”, it added.
It has rolled into Waitrose today (4 April) (rsp: £2/330ml).
Galipette said it brought “something completely new and unique to the UK cider market” as it used “centuries-old artisan methods of keeving and wild yeast fermentation, which prevents the yeast from fully fermenting the cider apples so their natural and fruity sweetness remains”.
These processes were “rarely used anymore within the cider category” and meant there was “no need for any unnecessary sugars, sweeteners or additives”, it added.
It follows a raft of recent fruity cider launches over recent months. Heineken in February, for example, launched a low-calorie take on Strongbow Dark Fruit.
Thatchers and Rekorderlig have both added blood orange-flavoured ciders to their line-ups over recent weeks.
