Californian winemaker Gallo has revealed what it claims could be just the first of many joint ventures.
It has added a range of premium Australian wines to its portfolio through a partnership with McWilliam's Wines.
And senior marketing manager Ian Jones said: "We are always looking for opportunities, watch this space. We have seen tremendous growth in our business and building on our portfolio will ensure that for the future."
The agreement provides for the distribution and marketing of McWilliam's Hanwood Estate wines outside Australia and New Zealand. Its Chardonnay and Shiraz will be launched in the UK in February. Talks are taking place with buyers to ensure the wines are part of the spring range reviews.
Jones said: "The two companies are keen to build their brands globally. It gives us the chance to appeal to different consumers. Hanwood Estate will offer a premium Australian brand which is a unique proposition and different from anything in the Gallo portfolio."
