Two cider brands are launching variants designed to tap into interest in exotic flavours.
Gaymers is introducing a fifth line to its range with Gaymers Tropical Cider, which will roll out to Asda in 500ml bottles from 20 April and will be available in Tesco the following month. The launch of the drink - a blend of pear cider with pineapple, mango and passionfruit - follows the rollout of a new look for the brand last year.
Meanwhile, Swedish brand Rekorderlig has launched a limited-edition passionfruit flavour.
Sales of flavoured cider are up 61% year-on-year, and now account for 8% of off-trade cider sales by volume and 15% by value [Nielsen 52 w/e 2 February 2013].
