George Greener has taken over as Iceland Group's non-executive chairman this week.
He replaces temporary figurehead David Price, who was appointed chairman on a temporary basis following the corporate upheavals and departure of Malcolm Walker in January.
Greener, who build his career at Mars, BAT financial services and Hillsdown Holdings, is currently chairman of British Waterways and a non-executive director of Reckitt Benckiser.
He said: "I am delighted to be joining a team, led by Bill Grimsey, to restore value to the Group and to create exciting opportunities for growth."
Price will stay on at Iceland as a non-executive director.
